Ancient History and Literature Tues/Thurs January 4

Well, it was nice to see you all after the break. Pres and Tori, we are praying for your swift recovery. Please take care.

History: Read Chapters 46-48 in SWB's Ancient History.
We will discuss these in class on Thursday.

Literature: Read books 4-8 of The Odyssey.
You will need to keep in mind the following points:
Character of the hero, mortality vs. immortality, weapons of the culture,
hospitality of the culture, observations of the lifestyle.


Vocabulary: You will be tested next Tuesday.

abdicate- to give up ( royal power)
abet- to aid, promote, or encourage the commission of an offense
abhorrence- act of detesting
abject- sunk to a low condition
abjure- to recant or renounce under oath
ablution- washing or cleansing, especially of the body
abominate- to hate violently
abrade- to wear away the surface by friction
abridge- to make shorter in work
