Tuesday morning

Vocabulary: Quiz next week.

1. abdicate: to cast off or relinquish.
Prince Albert decided to abdicate the throne to marry a commoner.
2. affable:  friendly: outgoing disposition.
Her affable personality helped her be a better salesperson.
3. burgeon: grow and flourish
The fertilizer caused the plants to burgeon.
4. chagrin: strong feeling of embarrassment
Much to his chagrin, he forgot his lines in the play.
5. confide: reveal in private.
The young wife would only confide in her husband.
6. distend: swell from internal pressure.
His abdomen began to distend after his surgery.
7. gregarious: enjoying of other's company
The gregarious young man was always in the student center.
8. husbandry: the practice of cultivating the land or raising stock.

10. incite: to provoke
