Thursday morning

Thank you all for your understanding for the cancellation of class. My mom is stable and feeling better.
I want to make sure we do not get behind, so I am going to do my best to pass along all the information you need.


Vocabulary:  I have added a sentence to help with the usage of each word.

1. fidelity: the quality of being faithful. The fidelity of the couple aided their successful marriage.

2. frugal: avoiding waste. The frugal young wife was able to build the couple's savings.

3. futile: producing no result or effect. It was futile to try and reason with the toddler.

4. guile: the use of tricks to deceive someone. The villain in the story was full of guile.

5. hyperbole: extravagant exaggeration. The author's use of hyperbole made the novel unbelievable.

6. idiosyncratic: peculiar to the individual. The FBI was able to use the idiosyncratic habits of the criminal to identify him.

7. insolent: marked by casual disrespect. Insolent remarks from teenagers are not tolerated in the school.

8. irrefutable: impossible to deny or disprove. Evidence that is irrefutable is essential in a court case.

9. jargon: a characteristic language of a particular group. The young people's jargon was hard for others to understand.

10. jocular: with humor/ characterized by jokes and good humor. The jocular personality of the girl made her popular among her friends.

Literature: Read Chapters 15-19 in Uncle Tom's Cabin.
Create a working outline for your work of fiction. Please keep Freytag in mind.

History: Review Chapter 6 and complete study sheet. I am going to email it to each of you.
Projects are due November 19.
