Ancient Literature/ October 20

You guys did good work on your epics today. Please keep thinking of ideas, but do not work without your entire group.

Vocabulary review:

1.wreak: to inflict revenge
2. winsome- attractive
3. wizen-faced- shriveled faced
4. wizen- dry, withered
5. wiry- thin, but strong
6. writhe- to twist or turn in anguish
7. wry- to deviate from the proper
8. yearling- animal between one and two years old
9. zealot- one who espouses a cause
10. zephyr- gentle wind or breeze

Read Tablets 5 and 6 of the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Answer the following:
Gilgamesh almost shows compassion for Humbaba. What would change about Gilgamesh if he
had not killed the beast?
What do you feel is the most important line in this section? Why?
