Monday/ THursday American History

March 4

Vocabulary: Continue to review the first 20 Greek and Latin roots with derivatives.
                      I will try and post the next 10 soon.

Literature: Choose from one of the following topics for Gatsby:

1. Compare and contrast the characters of Gatsby and Nick. How does Fitzgerald use the characters to evoke specific emotions from the reader? Use specific examples from the text.
2. Discuss the symbolism in The Great Gatsby. Use three specifics from the book. Some examples may be the green light or  the sign on the route into the city. Can you think of others?                  
3. How does the author relay his message about the way of life in America during the 1920's.  Discuss examples about the attitudes of Americans and the attitudes of the characters. Are they the same? How?attitudes
                  400-500 words. MLA
                  Rough draft will be due March 15.


History: Complete the study sheet on Chapter 13.
              Read Chapter 14 and answer section review questions.

You will not have class on Friday, but I would like to encourage you to attend the 1 p.m. class on Wednesday, March 6. It meets at the CBC youth center. Mrs. Cerillo is going to do a big review of the
vocabulary and a writing activity.
