Wednesday a.m. American Literature

Please complete your paper on Huck Finn. The choices of prompts are on the proceeding post.

Field Trip:
Next Wednesday, May 22, we will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Beaufort waterfront. We are going to meet in the parking lot in front of the marina. My cell is 476-1215 if you need directions.
 Mrs. Fitzgerald has arranged a historical walking tour for us and then entrance into the Robert Smalls exhibit. The cost will be $18.00/person . Please have the exact amount in cash for ease.

We also plan to have lunch on the waterfront after the tour. I will have a cooler to hold lunches, and families are invited to join us. I know that the children will enjoy some time to be together on that last day.

I am so thankful to Amy for finding an appropriate field trip so close to home. Sometimes, we neglect the history in our own backyard!!

 It has been a pleasure to teach your children.

Well, we are at the end of our journey. Please make sure that I have all your work next Thursday.

We are going to watch several clips on Monday, so bring a snack if you would like one. It should be a comfortable time.

Finish reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Listed are the prompts for the final essay. It is due on May 22.

Write a 500+ essay on Huck Finn. Choose one of the following:

1. Discuss the changes in Huck as the book progresses. Use examples from the book.
2. Discuss the meaningfulness of the river in the book. Give examples.
3. Discuss the theme of Huck Finn. Define and give examples.

Write a 500-600 word essay on Hamlet. Choose one of the following:

1. Describe the inward and outward conflict of Hamlet. Give specific examples from the play.
2. Explain the roles of Gertrude and Ophelia in the play. Give examples.
3. Is Hamlet a tragedy of revenge? Why or why not?

Please keep a writing in MLA format.

Tuesday a.m. Medieval Literature

1. Describe the inward and outward conflicts of Hamlet. Give specific examples from the play.

Literature: Finish reading the play.

                   2. Explain the roles of Gertrude and Ophelia in Hamlet. Give specific examples.

History: Complete take home test. Read as much of Chapter 21 as possible.
               YOu may use your book.
Literature: Write a 500-600 word essay on one of the following:( MLA format)
                    1. Who is the main character of the novel My Antonia? Support your answer.
                    2. Why do you think that Cather tells her story from the point of view of a man?
                    3. How does the setting afffect the novel? Remember setting is both time and place.

Wednesday p.m. Medieval Literature

Literature:
Read Acts 4 and 5 of Hamlet.
Bring a copy of Midsummer Night's Dream to class. If you do not own one yet, I may be able to provide what you need.

 Literature: Read to Chapter 32 in Huck Finn.

 Amy Fitzgerald is working on the date for the Charleston field trip. Please be patient with us a few more days. May is crazy and we are trying to work around the schedule of many events.

Tuesday a.m. Medieval Literature

Read Acts 4 and 5 of Hamlet.
Bring a copy of Midsummer to class. If you do not have a copy, I may be able to provide one.
Just let me know if you need it.

Monday/ Thursday American History and Lit

Literature: Bring your copy of My Antonia to class.

History: Read Chapter 20 and answer all section reviews.

Friday Medieval History and Literature

Literature: Read Acts 2 and 3 of Hamlet.
                   We will be using Midsummer next week. At this point, do not buy a copy. I will
                    try to provide what we will need.

History: Read Chapters 61, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, and 69.
              W e are skipping 62 and 68.
